Lasha — founder of Jewish Storytelling

Meet Lasha

Lasha Shakulashvili is a Georgian storyteller, PhD scholar, and cultural guide dedicated to bringing Jewish history and heritage to life through narrative. Raised in a family shaped by storytelling, he was introduced at an early age to Jewish texts and traditions — an influence that continues to inform his work today.

After more than a decade in international diplomacy and academic research across Europe and Israel, Lasha turned his focus to the exploration of Jewish communities across the diaspora. Drawing on his linguistic range — he is fluent in Georgian, Russian, and English, and also proficient in Hebrew, Yiddish and Latvian — he engages deeply with the cultures and sources he encounters. Through immersive tours, courses and lectures, he invites audiences to engage with the human stories behind history, making the past both accessible and deeply personal.

Though not Jewish himself, Lasha embraces a distinctive role: building bridges between cultures and helping others discover that they, too, can find a place within the Jewish story.
